The clinic was set up in 2011 by Mr Ian Cheshire who has been working in the dental industry since 1995. He has held posts in several large dental laboratories, and during a spell in Australia during 2001, working at one of the most prestigious labs in the country, Ian was able to see the benefits of a patient seeing the clinical dental technician (CDT) directly, without the need to see the dentist (Something that was not available in England at the time). Soon after, Ian discovered a new learning program was available back home in England that would enable him to see patients directly. With this in mind, he set off back to England to pursue a qualification in the new field of Clinical Dental Technology.
To begin with, Ian set up a dental laboratory in 2005 to serve local dentists throughout the Sussex area. This small lab was soon servicing 70+ dentists, making, repairing and altering dentures all day, every day. To date, the laboratory has worked on over 13,000 different dental appliances! With the experience gained in the Laboratory, Ian started on the courses at George Brown College and the Royal College of Surgeons. The courses were passed in 2009 with an honours diploma from George Brown College, along with a diploma in Clinical dental Technology from the Royal College of Surgeons (England).
Ian is passionate about his work with dentures. He has a meticulous nature, and has been described by some as a perfectionist. These excellent technical skills, along with good clinical skills and a soft and understanding chair side manner, mean you can expect top quality dentures, provided in comfort in a time to suit your individual needs.
When dentures are concerned, we at Sussex Denture Clinic feel that only the best will do. Ian is able to work with the latest top end materials such as the Swiss Denture Concept and the Biofunctional Prosthetic System.
