At Sussex Denture Clinic, we are able to make dentures to replace any number of missing teeth. Every patient has a pre treatment check up with our on site dentist to ensure the remaining teeth are stable enough to begin making the denture.
We have 3 types of material we can use depending on your individual needs:
Chromium Alloy Partial Dentures
Chrome Alloy dentures are a very popular choice at Sussex Denture Clinic, given that they offer many advantages over conventional acrylic dentures. The metal ‘framework’ holds the teeth in place, whilst remaining hidden from view. Being as the metal is stronger, it is made much thinner and is therefore far less bulky, helping with speech. Chrome alloy dentures are extremely durable, and tend to last longer than conventional acrylic dentures. It is an excellent choice for partial dentures as it can be designed to be hygienic and enable correct cleaning of the remaining teeth.
Acrylic Partial Dentures
Acrylic dentures are one of the most common types of denture worn in the UK, and are commonly prescribed on the NHS as they are a more affordable option for denture wearers. At Sussex Denture Clinic we tailor make our plastic dentures, to match the natural teeth you have lost.
Plastic dentures are suitable for most denture wearers, given that they are highly biocompatible(Reduced risk of allergic reaction). Many options are available for the types of individual teeth to be put on the denture, we have 36 different shades of teeth, from brilliant white to subtle natural shadings, so we can perfectly match the teeth you already have.
Flexible Nylon Dentures
Flexible dentures are available for patients who struggle with conventional metal or acrylic dentures. Being made of a flexible material, patients find the dentures fit extremely well. The denture is made in such a way so as to avoid metal clasps on teeth, so the dentures have a natural look. The dentures are injection moulded for a closer fit, offering a high level of comfort for the patient
We make and fit Silensor anti-snoring devices at the surgery.
The Silensor uses a pair of clear plastic moulding, shaped to fit your teeth, which you slip into your mouth at bedtime. The top and bottom sections are connected at the sides by short plastic links, which have the effect of pulling your lower jaw slightly forward. This in turn holds the airways open, reducing the constriction that causes the snoring.
How comfortable is it?
At first, you may experience some stiffness in your jaw when you wake up, but this soon wears off.
What if I wear false teeth?
Unfortunately, if you have no teeth the Silensor cannot be fitted. If you have a denture which only replaces some teeth, a Silensor may work: Pop along to find out if it can work for you.
Implant retained dentures have a biting force comparable to natural teeth. At Sussex Denture Clinic, we have an onsite Implant Specialist to place the titanium implant screws that will hold your dentures firmly in place. Titanium is used as it is totally bio-compatiable and can stimulate bone growth (Osseointegration) around the implant, leading to a stronger placement and a decreased likelihood of implant failure in the future. The screws act as a substitute for the roots of your teeth. The implants hold the dentures firmly and securely in place, giving you back total peace of mind. Dentures made on the implants are highly stable and more comfortable than conventional dentures.
We offer 2 types of Dental implants:
For removable dentures
This type of implant retained denture enable the patient to take the denture out of the mouth to clean and maintain.
For fixed dentures
The denture remains attached to the dental implants. This type of denture can only be removed by a dental professional.
Our implant retained dentures are made using state of the art denture base materials and teeth for a completely natural looking denture.
Our implant specialist will assess the suitability of the bone in your jaw, the soft tissues in your mouth, your overall health and which type of dentures you need. If you decide to undergo treatment, they will develop a treatment plan to fit the dental implants that will help your dentures look like natural teeth and feel more secure. Our specialists will keep you informed of the treatment every step of the way.
